Creating an Online Survey
No previous survey experience? No problem! We walk you through it! It's easier than you think to create an online survey, poll, or questionnaire that yields valuable feedback. All you need to know is how to point, click, drag, and drop. That's it. No special design talent, technical skills, or Ph.D. in statistics needed!
Here's how you can create a winning online survey:
1. Choose the right survey template
Each survey template focuses on one topic—like customer satisfaction. Our built-in selector can suggest the right one for your needs instantly to save you time and effort. Or, you can create your own from scratch. Need to ask just a quick question? Use an online poll on your website to get an answer, fast.
2. Click to edit the survey
Reword survey questions to make them specific to your organization and audience. Rearrange the order of the questions. Click to change the survey's colors and add your logo and photos. It all takes just a couple of minutes.
3. Select the right question type to get the right feedback
Surveys rely on seven different question types:
- Rate items on a scale — Let respondents rank satisfaction, ease of use, preference, or likelihood to do something from 1 to 5.
- Rank items numerically — Provide a list for respondents to prioritize.
- Single-select multiple choice — Ask simple yes-no-maybe questions, or for respondents' favorite choice.
- Multiple-select multiple choice — Let respondents choose more than one answer.
- Open-ended text — Capture longer answers and get suggestions.
- Contact information — Complete your records with more than just name and email address, or use to send something to reward people for their participation.
4. Add skip logic
Skip logic lets you create "smarter" surveys that ask questions based on how respondents answer previous ones. Respondents see only the questions that apply to them—you get more meaningful and in-depth feedback.
5. Preview your survey
Our survey tools include a spell checker (for 12 different languages) to keep you looking professional. Test your survey anytime before you send it out to make sure it's just right.
6. Add custom greeting and closing pages
Create a better experience for respondents by adding a greeting message at the beginning of the survey, and a thank you at the end of it.
7. Publish your survey and invite participants
When your survey is ready, just click Publish and make a survey invitation to send to your mailing list. Or, you can post a survey link on your website, blog, or email newsletter.
